I am not your typical gym type, that's for sure! The last time I did any form of proper exercise was pre 6 pregnancies, all of 8 years ago . I had put weight on with each subsequent pregnancy, without having lost it from the previous one.....I suffer with depression as a result of loosing 4 of the 6 babies, and so my self esteem and confidence were at an all time low.


Another school mum was in the same place and talked me into coming along and trying some pt sessions. She reassured me by explaining that it's with only 4 other participants, who were of a similar build and fitness level to myself, and as a bonus, session costs were split between participants, and not per person, effectively reducing the cost from 35 to 7 pounds !


I was very nervous and self conscious, but Luke quickly put me at ease, letting me know that it was ok to stop and rest if I needed to, and having taken a medical history, was aware of my weaknesses. I won't lie, it was blummin hard work and I was thoroughly ashamed of how unfit I had become, but as Luke said, you're here to change that, and bit by bit, the weight came off along with the cm's.....a total of 26 lbs, 70 cms and 7 per cent body fat, all in a 3 month period. I have been eating a healthier diet, but have not denied myself the odd treat now and again! I have more energy, am able to run up the stairs and have massively reduced my risk factor of developing diabetes and heart disease, both of which run in my family. It has also given me routine and structure to my life, as well as meeting and making new friends, all of which are helping to wage war with my depression.....I may not have won the war, but I am winning, battle by battle.......none of this would have been possible without the encouragement, expertise, and motivation of my pt, Luke young.
